Biography:

Deborah Jane Batt   NAPA, NS

Art has been the focus of Deborah's life for as long as she can recall. She has developed a reputation for colourful, structured and adventurous work. Self-taught, she has not been influenced by any school of thought or method, an important factor in her development as an artist, creating a style which is truly innovative and free flowing, a juxtaposition of colour form and shape.
She is of the belief that " painting has to have its on presence, stimulating the viewer to react in a multitude of intangible ways. Paintings are simultaneously graphic and emotive, but above all to be enjoyed".

"My paintings have become increasingly non- objective artworks with no recognisable subject matter. My subject being the painting itself. Non-objective art explores the potential of abstraction, the shape, brush marks, colours, tones, lines and texture, but does not try to pin down a subject. This lets the viewer respond emotionally to the painting. My vocabulary of communication is the fusion of colour and structure".
